Mud Flood Porong - Sidoardjo

In  porong – Sidoarjo, there is a hot mud outpouring incident caused by a company in Sidoarjo that finally develops into a mud around the outpouring area. It is estimated that 100 hectares of land is covered by the hot mud, including villages, estates, schools, rice-field, etc.  

The first outpouring of mud happened in May, 2006, and some villagers whose houses are damaged by the mud  are evacuated to a safer place, so are the students whose schools are sunk in the mud since teaching and learning process is temporarily suspended due to such disaster. 

The outpouring of mud also obstructs Surabaya-Gempol Freeway that is temporarily closed accordingly. Therefore, we cannot travel through the freeway to reach Malang or Probolinggo. 

Such a mud flood situation also grows anxiety to the people of Surabaya when it is not immediately handled since during the rainy season the mud overflow may reach Surabaya. We shall hope that there is a quick solution to overcome this situation, so that it will not bring further losses to anyone else.
