My Father once said; "Living in Jakarta is great, if you have the money". Is it? Well, don't you think anywhere you're living is great if you have the money? :D what my Father meant, is that Jakarta has everything that money can buy, things that you may not find in other cities. He meant facilities. The city has so much to offer, when it comes to 'spending away you money'.

I've only been living in the city for a couple of months. So the city is new for me, even it's not my first time in the city. I had visit Jakarta for so many times, I don't remember how many. What I remember from those visits is that I never wanted to live here. I mean it's fun to come here in weekend, enjoy the food, go to the mall or café (this is what most people do when they come to Jakarta for non-business travel), for examples. But the amount of money I've spent for the weekend in Jakarta, never make me happy. Compared to other cities in Indonesia, it is the most expensive city (by Rupiahs, not Euros off course).

But why do people keep coming here every year? Jakarta offers more career opportunities. So they say. Bigger income. Of course, it doesn't work for everybody. You ought to know what you're good at and you have to be really good at it. That's what it seems, to do, if you want to be able to enjoy the ideal living in Jakarta.

By January 2006, Jakarta residents have reached over 7 and a half million. Surprisingly, the number had reduced about a million from 2005. Did people give up living in Jakarta? Personally, I don't know anybody who had moved from Jakarta. But I know people who had moved in to Jakarta for the last year.  I also know people who used to hesitate to live in Jakarta then moved in to the city anyway. Because-again-it is expensive.  Still, I guess, other cities don't provide the kind of career opportunities people expected
.
