2 more Busway corridors will be opened in Jakarta.
Just like two years ago, Jakarta citizens have their own strong opinion
about it. Jakarta Busway service (TransJakarta) was launched as a resolve
to the crowd problem. And it only costs Rp 3500 flat.
Two years after Jakarta Busway service (TransJakarta)
was launched, the governor now open two new Busway corridors. Three lines
they opened two years ago were;
Line 1: Blok M Bus Station - Great
Mosque of Al-Azhar(Masjid Agung) - Senayan(Bunderan Senayan) - Bung Karno
Sport Area(Gelora Bung Karno) – Metro Police Station(Polda) - Downstream
Dam (Bendungan Hilir) - Rubber(Karet) - Setia Budi – Upper Dukuh(Dukuh
Atas) - Tosari -Indonesia Hotel(Bunderan HI) - Sarinah - Indonesia Bank –
National Monument(Monas) - Harmoni Central Busway(--under construction--)
- Big Farm(Sawah Besar) – Big Mango(Mangga Besar) - Olimo - Glodok - Kota
Station.
Line 2: Kalideres-Ciputra-Harmoni.
Line 3: Pulogadung-Harmoni.
Supports for this public transportation solution don’t come from everyone.
Some of Jakarta
citizens doubt that Busway will be the answer to the traffic problem.
Their prediction is it’s only going to give more traffic problem. The
Busway line took 1/3 part of the street wide. The Busway line
development in Kuningan area, South Jakarta has been making the street
more crowded so far. Many people are skeptical about the addition of
Busway corridors.
Despite the controversy about the efficiency of this new transportation in
Jakarta, according to JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency)14
percent of a total of about 4.8 million private car owners have switched
to the Busway.
I think Busway do give an efficient solution; less time and less money to
get to where you heading. But for people who rather have privacy, sitting
or standing in the Busway with full of people in it is not a preferred
choice.
